Payment
We accept payment in cash (USD or Khmer Riel) or via the "Bakong Tourist App", launched by National Bank of Cambodia to facilitate easy digital payment by QR code, connected to your own account. (For Cambodian residents, we accept payment by ABA.) We do not have credit card facilities.

Kampot is approximately 2.5 hours drive from Phnom Penh airport (pick-up available, book in advance), 3-5 hours by bus, or a lovely leisurely train ride. If you are heading to the islands, direct boat services are now available from/to Kampot, or you can take a train/bus/taxi to Sihanoukville. Overnight buses run from Siem Reap and Ho Chi Minh.

We offer a convenient $5 pick-up service from town: our driver with a large tuk tuk (or “remorque”) will wait for you at the bus/train station, help with luggage, stop for supplies (e.g. drinks, snacks, or full groceries if you plan to cook meals), then bring you here; book in advance. We do not take a commission on this service, please pay the driver directly.

Tuk tuk: for local transport, you can book using PassApp (need Cambodian SIM but more popular & maps work better) or Grab.

Motorbike & bicycle rental: readily available in town or in nearby International Village

If you have your own transport, we may be a bit hard to find the first time, as our private access road is not recognised on Google Maps. Follow the signs for access - note that you need to go past our location slightly, then loop back around to our driveway and entry point - see the “Satellite” layer in maps.

The Host
Baksaei Retreat was established by Meg Lowder, an Australian expat and business consultant. Meg was travelling long-term and became stranded in Cambodia when the Covid-19 pandemic began. She fell in love with the people and culture, settling in the gorgeous coastal town of Kampot at the mouth of the Tuek Cheu River and nestled at the base of Bokor Mountain National Park.
Meg is studying the Khmer language and loves sharing her passion for Cambodia with guests, along with her love of travel, having been to around 40 countries. She has great connections around southern Cambodia and delights in planning the perfect getaway for you!
