Kampot is approximately 2.5 hours drive from Phnom Penh airport (pick up available) or 3+ hours by bus. If you are coming from the islands, direct boat services are now available. Overnight buses run from Siem Reap and Ho Chi Minh.

The Host
Baksaei Retreat was established by Meg Lowder, an Australian Expat and business consultant. Meg was travelling long-term and became stranded in Cambodia when the Covid-19 pandemic began. She fell in love with the people and culture, settling in the gorgeous coastal town of Kampot at the mouth of the Tuek Cheu River and nestled at the base of Bokor Mountain National Park.
Meg is studying the Khmer language and loves sharing her passion for Cambodia with guests, along with her love of travel, having been to around 40 countries. She has great connections around southern Cambodia and delights in planning the perfect getaway for you!

The owner, was an absolute delight — she was polite, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed to feel comfortable during our stay. The location is perfect, just a short 2$ tuk-tuk ride to the city centre and markets, making it convenient yet peaceful. We also found it really easy to get to with Google Maps and the helpful signs along the way. If you're looking for an authentic Cambodian countryside living experience, this place is perfect. "Waking up with the sunrise behind the trees, having coffee on the sofa on the spectacular balcony and looking at the dragonflies dancing in the rice field in front of the villas is something special. All around the colors change with the sunlight and the sunset is always unique. The rooms are really clean and extremely comfy. The kitchen is well equipped and you can also order food ... and they will deliver to you any kind of food in town and some grocery shopping too. Close to town in a wonderful oasis of rice fields and nature, I've to say this has been the best place I had the honour to stay and the owner is lovely and always available for some advice.
